CONDAT supplies wire producers with products adapted to their processes with a guaranteed optimum quality level. With a laboratory of 45 people and 5% of its turnover dedicated to R&D, CONDAT is ahead of the competition.

CONDAT group laboratories are separated into 3 departments:
- Strategic & Prospective research in order to find innovative lubricating solutions and develop the lubricant technologies of the future.
- Applied research to characterize and develop new products.
- Analysis and SAV to control, follow and maintain current lubricants in use.

Through the dimension and resources allocated to its R&D, CONDAT affirms its worldwide leading position in the wire drawing business and reinforces its capacity to develop quickly new products answering the market demands and the specific needs of its customers.

With a state of the art Laboratory of Analysis in which the group has invested over 500 K€ over the last two years, CONDAT is committed to supplying its customers products of a high standard, with a consistent and unequalled quality level.
Centralized in Chasse-sur-Rhône, France, the laboratory of Analysis gathers information continually from all the production units of the group (Brazil, China, USA).
Its role is not only to analyse the finish goods manufactured in CONDAT factories, but also to control the raw materials which are used in their composition. It also follows the evolution of products in use in the factories of our customers.

The development and manufacture of a dry lubricant (soap base) is very complex; it is not a simple mixing of different components but the mastering of different chemical reactions which happen precisely at very specific temperatures.
Accuracy of these reactions gives the final product its technical characteristics and determines the quality level.
In order to propose to its customers products meeting their most severe applications, CONDAT Laboratory of Analysis control and measure specifically powders and pellets of both VICAFIL and STEELSKIN ranges in all strategic parameters:

Size and shape of the powder particles: granulometers with double cameras analyze in 3D and under 64 different angles the particles of the powders (calcium and sodium) of its soaps. Quality and reliability of results are unquestionable. Grain size is one of the essential components of the soap because its affects the customers productivity; it is recommended according to the wire diameter and the drawing speed.

Hardness of the particles: a dilatometer measure under which force the particle is crushed. Its characteristic is fundamental: if the grain is too crumbly it breaks down rapidly creating dust and an excess of consumption; if it is too hard, it will not circulate in the die, increasing die wear and wire breakage.

Quality and quantity of fat content: infra red spectrometers and chromatography of phase gases are used for these types of analysis.

Quality of the fat content used qualifies product resistance to high temperature and regulates the lubricant film: more the product is resistant to the temperature, more the drawing speed can be increased and wire dimension reduced.

Quantity of the fat content, influential on the cleanness of the wire after drawing: more fat content you use, cleaner the wire will be.

Thermal decomposition: tools such as thermo-mechanic enables the measurement of the temperature at which changes of product behaviour (solid, crystalline, liquid phases) are observed. It allows the establishment of the melting points, fusion points, decomposition of the different elements in order to optimise the soap consumption or the residue left on the drawn wire.

With a large spectrum of analysis, CONDAT take into account all these essential parameters for product quality and can ensure to supply to its customers products most adapted to their needs as well as a proper recommendation.
