A coalition of U.S. manufacturers has compiled compelling evidence that certain companies subject to antidumping orders are costing the U.S. Treasury at least $84 million annually due to their deliberate evasion of the antidumping duties. In addition, more than 275 jobs have been lost in the innerspring and hanger industries alone, and additional jobs are threatened by these ongoing schemes to avoid antidumping duties.

NON FERROUS MARKET OUTLOOK by Gianclaudio Torlizzi gianclaudio.torlizzi@dowjones.com +39.02.58.21.9919
Since early January, commodity prices have fallen because of a stronger dollar and measures taken by China to restrain excessive bank lending. But the upward trend is unbroken as we predicted. The base metals markets now show again signs of recovery after a week of selloff. Our model calls for moderate gains over the next two months. The historical dollar weakness and once again improved investor sentiment because of positive economic data should underlye the base metals for the next weeks. For the short term only the Chinese New Year adds a bearish tone to the markets. So rallies could probably be sold as investors lock in profits until the Chinese participants return to the markets after the New Years week.
As we usually do every six months, we publish all the news directly written by our online exhibitors. We hereby recall that the strong potential of this project is this, the interactivity: the chance for the industry players to keep everybody in the business informed about their activities, products, visions... Clicking on "More..." (bottom of this story) you can read all the news in any other language.

A formal antitrust investigation into the proposed Rio Tinto-BHP Billiton iron-ore joint venture (JV) has been opened, the European Commission said.
The commission said that Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton - the world's second- and third-largest iron-ore producers after Vale of Brazil - were being probed under the European Union's rules on restrictive business practices, given that the three miners collectively supplied most of the world's seaborne-traded iron-ore.
The common characteristic of OMAG's instruments is the possibility of adding, when not already included as standard, special software for statistics, data export and remote management.
All the instruments implement technical solutions that make the instrument itself insensitive to part subsidence during the test; in addition, many of them are completely automatic and managed by advanced electronics with closed loop cycle control.
We hereby present 4 models. For more information, please click on "More..." and then visit Omag's website.

WIRE 2010 will be an important event for Gimax. Due to the lull in business in 2009, Gimax dedicated many of its resources in developing several new machines – from respooling to drum packing. At the WIRE show we will not be able to show all the machinery that has been developed due to space limitations, but a couple of examples of how Gimax is approaching the market (or specific markets) will be there to be demonstrated.
Visitors will be able to see innovations both in respooling and drum packing; in particular the drum packer we will be exhibiting does not have an equivalent on the market – not so much in terms of speed, but in terms of capabilities. Gimax already has the fastest drum packer in the world – fastest in the sense that it does run with wire at the top speed that declared of 30 metres/second, as many of our customers have been able to see.
USA. Oshkosh, UW partner to develop lighter, stronger metals.

The goal is to produce lighter-weight metal castings of aluminum and magnesium that will have the strength of cast steel.

DEM Rolling Technology presents an innovative high-speed line
With 5 rolling stand for producing special shaped wire profiles with very close tolerances, such as shaped wire, triangles, squares, flats etc. The new rolling stand has been developed with a fully automated system that allows profile measurement and self-adjustment on closed loop control. All 4 rolls can be moved vertically and horizontally to allow making a vast range of flat wire without changing the rolls and a wide range of a special profiles that cannot be achieved with a traditional line. The line consists of a wire uncoiling system (pay-off), 5 wire profile rolling stands, 2 dancers for wire speed control, a straightener, laser measuring device and a trasversable spooler.
